Sea Fishing Tips

Post by LT1 » Wed Jul 16, 2008 6:13 pm

Hi,

My boyfriend is normally fishes on rivers on a fly but is looking to get into sea fishing and we're going to christchurch for the weekend - I was wondering if anyone had any hints and tips as to where is best to go nearby, how it's best to get there, any tips on how to fish around there and what gear to buy, and ideally any ideas for things that a bored girlfriend can do while he fishes!? :)

Hi there and welcome to the forum :D not sure if you have read this topic?

Its basically Hengistbury Head groyne which is in the Christchurch area.
While the boyfriend is fishing on the groyne you could be sun bathing on the beach :D

cheers

Thanks for that - yes I had read this - is Hengitsbury head the best place to go then? Is there a car park nearby?

Cheers

Basically Hengistbury Head on a nice day is a beautiful place to be, its a fishing venue where at this time of year you can catch Bass, Wrasse, Garfish, Mackerel and a few other species if your lucky. Its a good place to fish with light gear, using floats or spinners etc and much better when the tide is near high.
Is there a car park nearby?
There is a carpark at the Base of the head, but there is a bit of a walk to the actual groyne its self. you can walk the back road or walk along the beach, or you can even ride on the land train know as the noddy train "wonder why.. he he" for around £1.50.
